AMERICAN DAIRY QUEEN CORPORATION AND TEXAS OPERATORS REACH SETTLEMENT
MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ) and the Texas Dairy Queen Operator's Council (TDQOC) announced that settlement has been reached on four lawsuits. The lawsuits had been filed against ADQ in an effort to clarify control of advertising dollars and the food menu for Dairy Queen stores in Texas.
Under the settlement, TDQOC will continue to develop and promote the Texas Country Foods menu and to develop and administer advertising programs in Texas. These programs will be conducted in accordance with standards that have been accepted by both TDQOC and ADQ. All other aspects of the franchise relationship in Texas will be subject to the same standards and supervision that apply to stores in the Dairy Queen system outside of Texas.
"ADQ has long recognized the importance of the more than 800 Texas franchises and the success of the special Texas food menu," said ADQ President Michael P. Sullivan. "We are pleased that an amicable settlement could be reached that gave recognition to the vital concerns of all involved."
"In the spirit of cooperation in which this settlement was reached, both parties feel that problems are now behind us and we can again focus on building together in Texas while at the same time contributing to the strength of the Dairy Queen system throughout the United States and the world," said Bill Hall, president of TDQOC.
American Dairy Queen Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of International Dairy Queen, Inc. (NASDAQ: INDQA) (IDQ), and develops, licenses and services 4,700 Dairy Queen stores in the United States. There are 5,300 Dairy Queen stores worldwide.
Texas Dairy Queen Operator's Council is a volunteer cooperative of more than 200 Texas Dairy Queen franchisees who own and operate more than 800 Dairy Queen stores in Texas.
