AMERICAN CONSOLIDATED LABORATORIES, INC. ANNOUNCES PLANS TO ACQUIRE CAROLINA CONTACT LENS, INC.

SARASOTA, Fla., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- American Consolidated Laboratories, Inc. ("AC Labs") today announced it has signed a Letter of Intent to purchase all of the stock of Carolina Contact Lens, Inc. ("CCL") of Raleigh, North Carolina, for approximately $1.6 million.
AC Labs presently operates Salvatori Ophthalmics (Nasdaq: EYES) of Sarasota, Florida, and SO Nebraska of Lincoln, Nebraska. The Company is a national manufacturer and distributor of specialty contact lenses and lens care products. CCL, a private corporation established in 1973, is a leading contact lens manufacturer and distributor in the Southeast, and the Company's first acquisition since naming new management, changing its corporate name to AC Labs, and announcing an aggressive acquisition strategy in the fragmented industry of regional contact lens labs and distributors.
"Bringing Carolina Contact Lens, Inc. under the banner of AC Labs will more than double the size of the Company to over $9 million in annual sales, and add an important rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact lens manufacturing lab and soft lens distribution business," stated Wayne U. Smith, AC Labs' Chairman and CEO. "And I am particularly pleased to announce that Jimmy O'Neal, owner and founder of CCL, will be joining AC Labs in a senior liaison role with our regional labs and marketing operations, so the business will continue to benefit from his capable management," Smith added.
All operating units of AC Labs will continue to operate under their existing names -- Salvatori Ophthalmics, SO Nebraska, and Carolina Contact Lens. "We believe that it is important to preserve the local character of the labs we operate," emphasized Grady A. Deal, AC Labs' President and COO. "Our goal is to produce products and service while also realizing the economics of scale possible from a consolidated operation," Deal continued. "CCL is one of the finest regional labs in the country, and we are particularly pleased to join forces with them as our new Company begins to take shape," he concluded.
