AMERICAN COIN MERCHANDISING ANNOUNCES RECORD RESULTS FOR 1995; REVENUE INCREASES 31% AND NET INCOME RISES 78%

BOULDER, Colo., March 7 /PRNewswire/ -- American Coin Merchandising, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMCN) today announced record pro forma financial results for the three-month period and year ended December 31, 1995.

For the recent quarter, pro forma revenue increased 15.5% to $7.6 million, compared to $6.6 million for the same quarter a year ago. Pro forma net income for the recent quarter increased 40.3% to $644,000 or $0.12 per share from $459,000 or $0.10 per share a year ago.

For the year, pro forma revenue increased 31.3% to $28.9 million compared to $22 million for 1994. Pro forma net income rose to $2.5 million or $0.55 per share, an increase of 77.8% compared to pro forma net income of $1.4 million or $0.32 per share for the. same period last year.

The company's pro forma gross profit margin was 31.7% for 1995 compared to 29.5% a year earlier. Its pro forma operating margin also improved to 15.5% from 11.5% in 1994, primarily the result of an increase in the number of national accounts and machine locations.

Pro forma figures give effect to the company's reorganization in August 1995, which combined eight affiliated companies. Shares used in computing Pro forma net income per share, was based upon an average of 4,669,000 shares outstanding for 1995.

"This past year represents a pivotal point for the company with our reorganization in August and the completion of our $10.1 million public offering in October.

"Looking ahead, we plan to continue to implement our growth objective to double the number of skill-crane machines over the next three years with existing national chain accounts, such as Wal-Mart, Kmart, Pizza Hut and Shop 'n Save, and expand our market geographically with new retailers and restaurants," added Lapin. "As the largest skill-crane operator in a fragmented industry, we believe we now have the resources to increase our machine placements through acquisitions. such as the recent acquisition of our franchisee in Indiana."

American Coin Merchandising, headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, and its franchisees own and operate more than 5,500 coin-operated skill-crane machines throughout the United States. These machines dispense stuffed animals, plush toys, watches, jewelry and other items, The company's distinctive skill-crane machines are placed in supermarkets, mass merchandisers, bowling centers, bingo halls, bars, restaurants, warehouse clubs and similar locations.
