AMERICAN BUSINESS INFORMATION REPORTS THIRD QUARTER RESULTS

 OMAHA, Neb., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- American Business Information, Inc. (NASDAQ: ABII) today reported record revenues for the third quarter of 1993 of $15.4 million, up 26 percent from $12.2 million for the same period in 1992. For the first nine month period in 1993, revenues increased by 18 percent to $43.2 million over the prior year.
 Quarterly net income was reported at $2.7 million, or 20 cents per share, for the quarter ended Sept. 30, an increase of 19 percent over third quarter 1992 results of $2.3 million (17 cents per share).
 The first three quarters of 1993 saw an increase in net income to approximately $8.2 million, or 60 cents a share, for an 18 percent increase over 1992 results.
 "We're showing good, solid growth and earnings potential for the future," said American Business Information, Inc., Chairman Vin Gupta. "We've made several executive appointments in sales and marketing to enhance growth in our new and existing products."
 American Business Information, Inc., a leading provider of business information on 11 million businesses in the United States and Canada, last month announced the appointment of Bert Winemiller as president and chief operating officer and director, and retired Omaha World Herald publisher Harold Andersen as director. Winemiller has a BS and MS from the University of Missouri and a MBA from Harvard Business School. He was senior vice president of Automated Data Processing and had numerous executive positions at Information Resources, Cullinet Software and IBM; Andersen serves also on the boards of McCaw Cellular, Williams Companies, and Morrison Knutzen, and is chairman of the University of Nebraska Foundation.
 Gupta said the acceptance of ABI's existing products and new products including CD-ROM and 800 number based information delivery service called "ABI Network" indicates a vast opportunity for its products and services in the business-to-business marketing area. "We are investing heavily in human resources and the plan and technology to capitalize this future growth," he said.
