AMERICAN AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION REPORTS PRELIMINARY NEW TRUCK SALES

 WASHINGTON, March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Franchised dealers of truck manufacturers sold 355,088 units in February, the highest February sales since 1988, according to a preliminary report issued today by the American Automobile Manufacturers Association.
 Retail sales for February were 15.1 percent above sales for the month a year ago. There were 24 selling days in this period compared with 25 days in 1992.
 February sales were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4,908,000, a 19.5 percent increase from the February 1992 seasonally adjusted rate of 4,106,000 units.
