 AMERICAN AIRLINES REPORTS OCTOBER TRAFFIC
 DALLAS/FORT WORTH AIRPORT, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- American Airlines


flew 8.3 billion revenue passenger miles in October, up 16.8 percent from the 7.1 billion RPMs in October 1991. Available seat miles increased 11.2 percent, going from 12 billion ASMs to 13.3 billion.
 The system load factor was up three points, from 59.4 percent to 62.4 percent.
 Traffic in the domestic 48 states did not grow as rapidly in October as in recent months due to the expiration of many fare promotions. Total international traffic increased 25.3 percent from October 1991. International capacity grew 19.2 percent year over year, most of it in the Central and South American entity. European load factors were more than eight points above a year ago.
 Cargo also registered strong gains in October, with freight ton miles jumping 24 percent, from 87.7 million FTMs to 108.7 million FTMs. Mail ton miles went from 28.2 million MTMs to 33 million MTMs, an increase of 17.2 percent.
