 AMERICAN AIRLINES REPORTS MAY TRAFFIC
 DALLAS/FORT WORTH AIRPORT, June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- American Airlines


set a traffic record for May, flying 7.7 billion revenue passenger miles, up 12.2 percent from the same month in 1991. System capacity grew 15 percent year over year to 12.6 billion available seat miles.
 The system load factor dropped 1.5 points to 60.9 percent because of the increase in ASMs. The domestic load factor fell 1.1 points to 59.7 percent.
 May was the third busiest month in the American's history, behind July and August of 1991.
 "May was also the first full month following our announcement of Value Pricing, and we are very gratified by the results," said Michael W. Gunn, senior vice president of marketing.
 Freight ton miles in May jumped 42.5 percent to 94.4 million FTMs. Mail ton miles increased 23.1 percent to 28.7 million MTMs.
