 AMERICAN AIRLINES HURRICANE RELIEF MEDIA ALERT
 American Airlines today released the following information:
 -- Out of the 6,500 Miami American employees, more than 1,000 have suffered considerable damage by Hurricane Andrew.
 -- 100,000 lbs. of relief supplies have been donated by American Airlines employeess from around the country to help their Miami co- workers and others in South Dade. The donations continue to pour in.
 -- Once the supplies arrive in Miami, they are broken down and packaged into 40 lb. "care boxes" by volunteer American Airlines/AMR/American Eagle employees and their families, who are working 24 hours a day in the American Airlines cargo building located at Miami International Airport.
 -- Daily, an average of 400 American Airlines/AMR/American Eagle, Sky Chef and Cater Air employees line up to receive their supplies at American's cargo building. Nearly 2,000 of these "care boxes" have been picked up.
 -- Employee volunteer convoys take relief supplies to American employees and their neighbors, who are unable to leave their homes.
 -- In a joint effort with the United Way and The Salvation Army American is also collecting relief items from corporations around the country. Once these supplies arrive in Miami, they are distributed to the community through the United Way, Salvation Army, The Daily Food Bank and other charitable organizations.
