 AMERICAN AIRLINES ANNOUNCES TRAFFIC
 DFW AIRPORT, Texas, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- American Airlines'


September traffic was up 20.7 percent over last year due primarily to the half-price summer sale. The airline flew 8.3 billion revenue passenger miles, compared to 6.8 billion in September 1991.
 Domestic RPMs jumped 21.8 percent, from 5.0 billion to 6.1 billion.
 American's available seat miles for the month grew from 11.4 billion to 12.9 billion, a 13.1 percent increase. Domestic ASMs rose 10.5 percent, from 8.7 billion to 9.6 billion.
 The system load factor was up four points, from 59.8 percent to 63.8 percent. The domestic load factor increased 5.9 points, from 57.4 percent to 63.2 percent.
 Total international traffic increased 17.6 percent from September 1991. The international load factor, however, dropped 2.1 points to 65.4 percent due to a 21.3 percent increase in capacity on those routes.
 Cargo saw a 29.9 percent rise in freight ton miles, from 73.7 million to 95.8 million. Mail ton miles went from 24.3 million to 28.7 million, an 18.1 percent increase.
