AMERICA WEST AIRLINES, SOUTHWEST AIRLINES, USAIR AND USAIR EXPRESS ISSUE JOINT STATEMENT REGARDING L.A. INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AUTHORITY THREAT

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The City of Los Angeles Department of Airports has withdrawn its threat to terminate the operating rights of any carrier that has failed to pay the newly enacted landing fees at Los Angeles International Airport, pending a Court ruling on a motion for a preliminary injunction.
We, along with the other airlines serving LAX and the Air Transport Association, are confident that a resolution will be reached in the near future. Normal operations will continue at LAX and there will be no disruption of service.
