AMERICA SERVICE GROUP ANNOUNCES APPROVAL OF ALAMEDA, CALIF., CONTRACT
 NEW CASTLE, Del., April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- America Service Group Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: ASGR) announced today that the Board of Supervisors of Alameda County (Oakland), Calif., has voted to approve a new contract between the County of Alameda and Prison Health Services, Inc., the company's primary subsidiary.
 The formal signing is expected to occur shortly.
 The company's current contract with Alameda, which expires June 30, 1992, generated revenues of $10,196,000 in 1991, which represented 16.9 percent of the company's total revenues for 1991. The new contract covers an additional two years, commencing July 1, 1992, at a total base price of $18,974,000 for the two-year period. The company also announced that it has entered into an additional contract with Alameda County to provide mental health services for one year at a price of $1,391,000, renewable annually on the anniversary of the health services contract.
 Jeff Reasons, president of the company, said the new contract showed continued confidence in the company's performance by one of its largest customers which has been served by the company since 1988.
 America Service Group Inc. trades as "ASGR" on the NASDAQ National Market System. Through its primary subsidiary, Prison Health Services, Inc., the company contracts with state, county and local governmental agencies to provide comprehensive health care services to inmates of prisons and jails throughout the United States.
