AMERICA'S NEWEST RADIO NETWORK DEBUTS IN FRANCE
FROM COCA-COLA OLYMPIC PIN TRADING CENTER
ALBERTVILLE, France, Feb. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- On the eve of the Olympic Winter Games, Coca-Cola will introduce America's newest radio network to a daily audience of more than 5 million people.
That's when leading disc jockeys from nearly 30 radio stations around the U.S. begin broadcasting live from the Coca-Cola Olympic Pin Trading Center in Albertville, site of the Olympic Winter Games.
With the more than 5 million listeners every day, the network will rank, for the 20 days it's in existence, as one of the 10 largest radio networks in the U.S.
Primarily consisting of top-rated pop music stations, the network will include outlets in seven of the 10 largest U.S. markets and 13 of the largest 20. Stations in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Detroit, Dallas and Washington will be part of the broadcast team.
The disc jockeys will update their listeners on the Olympic scene from a broadcast center housed in the Coca-Cola Olympic Pin Trading Center located in Albertville. State-of-the-art technology, including satellite transmission capabilities, has been put into place to allow the deejays to broadcast live back to their home towns.
"For 64 years, Coca-Cola has been part of the Olympic Games experience," said Pierre Ferrari, senior vice president, marketing, Coca-Cola USA. "We have utilized that experience to create an opportunity for leading radio stations across America to be part of the Olympic scene. It's a unique program for the stations and their audiences and it's a way for Coca-Cola to continue to communicate the one-of-a-kind relationship the company enjoys with the Olympic Movement."
One part of each station's broadcast will be a visit with Katarina Witt, a two-time Olympic gold medalist who is serving as a commentator on CBS's telecast of the Winter Games. Witt is scheduled to spend time with each of the stations on the network.
