AMD (NYSE: AMD) has announced the availability of the AMD 790GX desktop platform.

The platform is a composite of a new motherboard series, a new chipset and new graphics options designed to get the most out of the AMD Phenom processor.

In addition to several features designed to improve the effective speed of AMD's processors, the motherboards features an onboard graphics processor from ATI, the ATI Radeon HD 3300 which offers ATI Crossfire compatibility allowing the processing capabilities of multiple Graphics Processor Units (GPU) to be combined for faster high definition display.

Several system integrators are reportedly intending to release products based on the AMD 790GX.
