AMD (NYSE: AMD), a provider of processing solutions, today (8 January) announced the introduction of the AMD LIVE! notebook PC.
The new notebook PC is a mobile media centre which is designed to help consumers simplify and enjoy digital entertainment experiences. The AMD LIVE! solution reportedly helps users to access their digital media virtually anytime, anywhere regardless of file format or device form factor.
The AMD LIVE! notebook PC is powered by AMD Turion 64 X2 dual-core mobile technology. It provides access to digital media outside the home, as well as the ability to manage content or schedule TV programme recordings remotely with the AMD LIVE! Entertainment Suite.
AMD LIVE! notebooks are scheduled to be available in Europe from Fujitsu Siemens Computers and MSI starting later this month. AMD said that other PC manufacturers are expected to introduce AMD LIVE! notebooks worldwide in the near future.
Pricing details were not available.
In addition AMD has announced AMD LIVE! Home Cinema and AMD LIVE! Home Media Server, two new consumer electronics platform designs, as well as additions to the AMD LIVE! Entertainment Suite.
AMD LIVE! Home Cinema is a home entertainment system that consolidates audiovisual devices and related remote controls into an all-in-one solution.
AMD LIVE! Home Media Server is powered by Windows Home Server software, and is a platform design enabling various OEM systems to help consumers with multiple home PCs to easily store, share and automatically protect their digital media.
Both AMD LIVE! Home Cinema and AMD LIVE! Home Media Server are expected to be available worldwide later this year.
New software applications in the Entertainment Suite include the AMD LIVE! PodShow TV, AMD LIVE! MyTV ToGo, AMD LIVE! Fusion Tunes, AMD LIVE! MCE Backup, AMD LIVE! TV Genie and AMD LIVE! Digital Courier.
