ALPINE GROUP ANNOUNCES POLYVISION AGREEMENT FOR COMMERCIAL LICENSE AND JOINT VENTURE WITH COGIDEV

NEW YORK, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The Alpine Group, Inc. (AMEX: AGI), announced that its Alpine PolyVision, Inc., subsidiary signed definitive agreements with Cogidev, S.A.R.L., a PolyVision licensee for European military applications, to extend Cogidev's license to include commercial PolyVision flat panel display product applications under development and also establish a development program and joint venture for higher resolution graphics and work station display screens.
Steven S. Elbaum, chairman and chief executive officer of Alpine, stated: "The expanded Alpine PolyVision-Cogidev relationship reflects the important progress made by Cogidev in the development of PolyVision based display components and systems, particularly in the development and fabrication of proprietary electronic drive systems that have achieved an operating matrix addressed PolyVision display with a row and column density of 40 lines per linear inch. Cogidev has been awarded a contract by the French Ministry of Defense to evaluate PolyVision's feasibility for certain military applications. The expanded joint effort is expected to benefit Alpine PolyVision's future development of high resolution flat panel display systems for commercial and military applications."
Cogidev is based in Rueil Malmaison, France, and was originally licensed by Alpine PolyVision in November 1991 to develop PolyVision for French military applications. Cogidev, which is led by Andre Giraud, is engaged in research and development with a primary focus on high technology glass applications and shock and explosion absorbing covers.
