ALPA reaches tentative agreement with Delta Air Lines.

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

The Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) has reached a tentative labour contract agreement with Delta Air Lines regarding the carrier's pilots.

The tentative agreement will avert possible strike action occurring after the 29 April negotiating deadline.

The proposed contract would be retroactive to 2 May 2000 and would extend through until 5 May 2005 according to 123Jump. The potential contract will give Delta Air Lines' pilots raises of 24-34% over the five-year period, increased job security and improved vacation and retirement benefits. The contract will also apparently give Delta Express pilots a wage increase of almost 63%.

The contract will go before the union and its members on 28 April.
