ALPA RESPONSE TO USAIR NEWS RELEASE ANNOUNCING 'LIBERTY FARES'
WASHINGTON, Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) issued the following: "We applaud the improvements in USAir's service between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia announced by the company today. Because these changes are based on more efficient utilization of existing assets, we are confident that they will increase USAir's profitability as well as customer satisfaction. We are especially pleased that the company is taking advantage of the productivity improvements given to the company by the USAir pilot group during our last contract negotiations. "We believe that this initiative will demonstrate the conclusions of a recent study by USAir pilots and the Air Line Pilots Association. This study showed that the success of other profitable airlines is due to efficient utilization of assets and that USAir can increase its success by improving the utilization of its material and human assets." /delval/ -0- 12/10/93 /CONTACT: Chris Beebe, 215-598-3647, John Davis, 606-268-1004, Carol Dishart, 412-265-3480, Gordon Goodier, 813-992-0565, Kelly Ison, 615-245-5027, Rick Maury, 803-329-6904, David McLarney, 410-893-8928, Sherman Morgan, 803-548-4833, Richard Obermeyer, 814-368-4316, all of the Air Line Pilots Association/ (U)
