Orchid society to hear

about Colombian species

Jim Rassmann of Florence will present a slide-illustrated talk on Colombian orchids tonight at the monthly meeting of the Willamette Orchid Society in the Odd Fellows building at 1233 Charnelton St.

The public is invited to attend. The door to the building will be open from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and then will be locked.

Benton Extension plans

home gardening seminar

`Insights into Gardening,' a seminar for home gardeners, will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Feb. 28 at the LaSells Stewart Center at Oregon State University in Corvallis.

Sponsored by the Benton County-Oregon State University Extension Service, the seminar offers classes, displays, an on-site OSU mini-bookstore, refreshments and optional box lunches.

The cost is $15, which includes three lectures, lunchtime demonstrations and an opportunity to visit with many of the guest speakers. A box lunch is an additional $6.50 and must be ordered by Feb. 13.
