 ALLTEL MOBILE ANNOUNCES ACQUISITIONS
 LITTLE ROCK, Ark., March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- ALLTEL Mobile


Communications, Inc., the cellular telephone subsidiary of ALLTEL Corporation (NYSE:AT), has announced several key acquisitions.
 In Georgia, ALLTEL Mobile completed its previously announced acquisitions of additional interests in the Savannah Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) wireline system. Under terms of the agreements, ALLTEL Mobile purchased 22 percent interest in Savannah from Coastal Cellular and 20 percent interest through the purchase of Planter's Cellular Company of Georgia, bringing ALLTEL's ownership position in Savannah to 80 percent.
 In Missouri, ALLTEL Mobile entered into an agreement with Choctaw Telephone Company to purchase the remaining .98 percent interest in the Springfield, Mo., MSA and an additional 14.3 percent of Missouri Rural Service Area (RSA) 14. Pending necessary approvals, ALLTEL Mobile will own 100 percent of the Springfield MSA and 85.7 percent of RSA 14.
 In Mississippi, ALLTEL Mobile has agreed to purchase Meridian Cellular Company of Meridian, Miss., which holds the wireline cellular license for RSA 7B1. The purchase is pending regulatory approvals. ALLTEL Mobile currently owns 50 percent of the Jackson and Vicksburg, Miss., MSA wireline cellular system, which is adjacent to RSA 7B1.
 And in Alabama, ALLTEL completed acquisition of 20 additional percent of RSAs 5B2, 7 and 8, from the Union Springs Telephone Company, increasing ALLTEL's position from 67 to 87 percent.
 ALLTEL Mobile operates or has investments in a number of cellular telephone and paging systems in the Northeast, Midwest and Sun Belt regions and is headquartered in Little Rock, Ark.
 ALLTEL Corporation provides telephone service to 1.2 million customers in 25 states and has subsidiaries or investments in companies that provide cellular telephone, long-distance and information services, communications products and other related services.
