ALLNET ANNOUNCES PERSONAL 800 NUMBERS

BINGHAM FARMS, Mich., Dec. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- What do truck drivers, homesick college kids and business travelers all have in common? The need for a personal 800 phone number.
"And Allnet has filled that need with Allnet Home Connection 800(SM)," said Greg Jones, senior vice president at Allnet Communication Services, Inc.
Today, 800 numbers aren't just for business. Allnet Home Connection 800 is designed and priced for the home. It allows family and friends to call, at no charge to them.
"People who travel a great deal for their job, invariably broke students and elderly parents on fixed incomes, will find it a little easier to phone home," said Jones. "As families become more transient and move around the country, a long-distance call has become a regular occurrence, rather than the occasional call on birthdays or holidays. All these scenarios point to the need for 800 service for the home."
You can also direct calls to other numbers than your own by using Personal Identification Numbers. The caller dials the assigned Allnet 800 number. After hearing the prompt, the caller enters a 4-digit Personal Identification Number, or PIN. Each residential account may order one 800 number, with up to 10 PINs. The PIN directs the call to the telephone number you have assigned it.
"Your children could call home with one PIN, their grandparents with another, and your office with another," explained Jones.
"One of the main factors that makes Allnet Home Connection 800 so attractive is the cost -- calls are cheaper than collect or calling card calls," said Jones. "It also eliminates the risk of your calling card being misused or stolen. Unlike other companies charging a monthly fee ranging from $3.75 to $5.50, Allnet charges only 93 cents for up to 10 PINS.
No special equipment is needed for your family to have an Allnet Home Connection 800 number. Allnet simply processes your order, and in approximately 10 days, the Allnet 800 number is ready to accept your PIN. For your convenience, your Allnet Home Connection 800 charges are shown on your Allnet invoice, meaning you still only have one bill to pay.
Allnet Communication Services, Inc., headquartered in Bingham Farms, is one of the country's largest providers of long-distance telecommunication services. Allnet is a wholly owned subsidiary of ALC Communications Corporation. ALC is publicly traded on the American Stock Exchange (Symbol: ALC).
