ALLNET ANNOUNCES 800 NUMBER PORTABILITY FOR NEW AND CURRENT CUSTOMERS

BINGHAM FARMS, Mich., Nov. 24 ~PRNewswire~ -- Allnet Communication Services, Inc. today announced its ability to offer portability of AT&T 800 toll-free numbers.
Portability refers to allowing customers to take an 800 number or numbers with them when they switch long-distance carriers. The Federal Communications Commission has mandated a service charge by May 1, 1993, that would make it possible for customers to retain ownership of a toll- free 800 number when they change carriers.
"Allnet(R) is pleased to be at the forefront of this change, and is able to offer portability six months prior to this government mandate," said Greg Jones, senior vice president at Allnet. "Currently, AT&T controls the 800 numbers of its customers and keeps them when a customer switches carriers. By signing up for Allnet service, the customer is now able to switch to Allnet and keep this 800 number."
"Allnet is excited to be a part of this new arena of competition," said Jones. "Without portability, a company switching long-distance carriers would have to give up an 800 number which its customers are already familiar with, and is often printed on stationery, advertisements and other material."
Allnet offers a few reasons to switch your AT&T service:
-- Allnet offers 800 rates of up to 10 percent less than those of AT&T.
-- The Allnet Management Report, a highly detailed report of 800 calls, allows the customer to track, analyze and manage the results of their 800 usage.
-- Allnet combines all services on one invoice. This means the customer can take advantage of combined volume discounts.
-- Allnet offers a number of add-on features designed to meet the 800 customer's specific needs. Area code blocking allows customers to block calls from areas they choose not to service. Allnet TargetLine(sm) offers the ability to reach many terminating points -- branch offices, departments, voice mailboxes -- by dialing just one 800 number.
Allnet Communication Services, Inc., headquartered in Bingham Farms, is one of the country's largest providers of long-distance telecommunication services. Allnet is a wholly owned subsidiary of ALC Communications Corporation. ALC is publicly traded on the American Stock Exchange (symbol: ALC).
