ALLIEDSIGNAL AUTOMOTIVE OPENS TECHNICAL CENTER IN PERRYSBURG, OHIO

 PERRYSBURG, Ohio, Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- AlliedSignal Automotive today officially opened an advanced engineering and administrative center for its worldwide filters and spark plugs business in Perrysburg Township, Ohio, near Toledo.
 The 50,000-square-foot facility, representing a $12 million investment by AlliedSignal, has 85 employees, bringing 55 new jobs to the Toledo area.
 The company marked the occasion with tours and a reception for suppliers and customers -- including representatives from Chrysler Corp., Ford Motor Co., General Motors Corp. and Navistar International Transportation Corp. An open house for employees and their families is Saturday.
 "This center brings together engineering, testing, sales and marketing resources for FRAM filters and Autolite spark plugs in an advanced facility that's close to our customers and our manufacturing operations," said Robert Ruffin, vice president and general manager, AlliedSignal Filters & Spark Plugs.
 "Our technical employees took the lead in designing the center to facilitate communication and teamwork, reduce product development time and ensure quick response to customer requests," Ruffin added. "By opening this center, we are reaffirming our commitment to provide world- class filters and spark plugs for vehicles anywhere in the world."
 The new facility is located just 30 miles from AlliedSignal's primary spark plug manufacturing plant in Fostoria, Ohio, which produces more than 1 million spark plugs daily for auto manufacturers and the automotive aftermarket. The center also is within 175 miles of AlliedSignal's largest automotive filter plant, in Greenville, Ohio.
 With headquarters in Southfield, Mich., AlliedSignal Automotive manufactures Autolite brand spark plugs and FRAM brand oil, fuel, air and transmission filters. Its other key products include automotive braking systems, safety restraint systems and turbochargers. It is a unit of AlliedSignal, Inc. (NYSE: ALD), a $12 billion advanced manufacturing company serving customers worldwide with automotive and aerospace products, chemicals, fibers, plastics and advanced materials.
