ALL-NEW 1994 SAAB 900 5-DOOR MODEL OUTSELLS 1993 SAAB 900 3- AND 4-DOOR MODELS COMBINED AFTER ONLY TWO WEEKS ON SALE

NORCROSS, Ga., Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Only officially on sale since Nov. 15, 1993, the all-new Saab 900 5-door has already captured 41.8 percent of the Swedish automaker's total monthly sales during the last two weeks of November.
During this short period, 738 of the 900 5-door models were delivered to Saab enthusiasts. Compared to the entire month last year, the single 1994 900 5-door body variant outsold both the previous 1993 Saab 900 3- and 4-door variants combined (712 total 900 3- and 4-doors were retailed during November 1992 -- or 40.5 percent).
This constitutes SAAB's best November sales month since 1989. Saab sold 1,732 cars during November 1991, 1,608 during the same month in 1990 and 1,495 cars during November 1989.
Saab Cars USA, Inc., importer and distributor of distinctive Saab 900 and 9000 automobiles reported a November 1993 sales total of 1,764 new Saabs sold. The Swedish automaker delivered 1,756 new 900 and 9000 models during November 1992.
According to John C. Kramer, vice president, sales and marketing, Saab Cars USA, Inc.: "The all-new Saab 900 5-door has met with an extremely positive reception at Saab dealers throughout the United States. Its sales pace has increased steadily since its official November 15 on-sale date, and we look forward to continued sales strides as we ramp up with the full range of Saab 900 models and equipment."
The majority of Saab 900 sales in the United States have traditionally been 3-door hatchbacks -- the last time a Saab 900 5-door was sold in America was during 1980. The all-new Saab 900 Turbo Coupe, along with the second-generation 900 Convertible, will make their world debuts at both Detroit's North American International Auto Show and the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show on Jan. 3 and 6, 1994, respectively.
