 ALL-NEW '93 GEO PRIZM PRICED LOWER -- AT $9,995
ROCHESTER, Mich., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- "The all-new Geo Prizm

will be priced at $9,995, $130 less than the '92 model," Chevrolet General Manager J.C. (Jim) Perkins announced today.
The $9,995 MSRP for the standard 1993 model compares to $10,125 for the 1992 base car, even though the '93 model is larger, roomier and more stylish, and has a more powerful engine and standard driver-side air bag. There is no reduction in Prizm's standard features from 1992.
"The 1993 Geo Prizm provides more car for less money -- it's that simple," Perkins said.
"This Prizm pricing continues Chevrolet's aggressive 1993 pricing strategy that we announced earlier. That strategy is designed to simplify and improve the buying experience for our customers," said Perkins.
"Prices for Geo Metro base models and Cavalier coupes, sedans and wagon also begin at less than last year. We held the base prices for the '93 S-10 4-door Blazer and the Lumina sedan at the '92 level," he added.
The 1993 Geo Prizm is offered in base and LSi models. The MSRP for the uplevel Prizm LSi -- offered as a separate model for '93 -- is $10,630.
Prizm's new standard features fulfill the Geo mission to provide simple, dependable, affordable and distinctive vehicles to attract import-minded buyers. Standard features include:
-- Move from subcompact to compact size, with seven cubic feet more interior room and more front and rear head, leg and shoulder room
 -- All-new stylish sheetmetal
-- Driver-side air bag that allows horn operation from the middle of the steering wheel
 -- More horsepower for Prizm's 1.6L 16-valve DOHC L4 engine with multi-port fuel injection
-- Longer wheelbase and re-tuned suspension for better ride and handling
-- Improvements designed to isolate Prizm's passenger compartment from engine, wind and road noise
-- New doors that extend into the roofline for build consistency and wind noise reduction
-- Front safety belts with five-position vertical adjustment
-- Larger 14-inch steel wheels and tires
 -- Larger 13.8-cubic-foot low-liftover trunk
-- Firmer bucket seats and easier-to-operate doors
-- Soft-feel steering wheel and driver-side map pocket
-- Four new exterior colors and more extensive corrosion protection
 -- Spring-loaded dual cupholder
All standard features from last year's base model have been continued. They include five-speed manual transmission, 4-wheel independent MacPherson-strut suspension, power front disc/rear drum brakes, Scotchgard(TM) fabric protection and rear door child security locks.
Options include 4-wheel anti-lock brakes (new for '93), a 3-speed automatic transmission, air conditioning, power steering, new AM/FM stereo cassette with digital clock, intermittent wipers and power door locks, rear defogger, tachometer and floor mats.
 LSi MODEL
The Prizm LSi also provides significant value:
-- Upgraded seat and door trim and a tilt steering wheel
-- A 60/40 split-folding rear seat with convenient trunk "pass- through" feature, a trunk light and full wheel covers
-- Passenger assist grips and a center console with armrest
-- Dual front storage pockets and dual visor vanity mirrors
Options for the LSi model (in addition to options available on the base car) include a new 1.8L 115-HP DOHC engine, new electronic 4-speed automatic transmission with lockup torque converter and fourth gear overdrive, electric sunroof, alloy wheels and a new Delco AM/FM stereo radio with integral compact disc player and cassette player.
The Prizm GSi sedan has been discontinued.
