ALL THAT JAZZ: RHINO TO REISSUE ATLANTIC JAZZ CATALOG

June 15 Marks Launch of 18-Month
Rhino Presents The Atlantic Jazz Gallery' Campaign
LOS ANGELES, June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Rhino Records, as part of its ongoing relationship with Atlantic Records, has set June 15 as the official launch date for the last of the great jazz catalogs to be reissued.
"Rhino Presents The Atlantic Jazz Gallery" will be an 18-month effort focusing on the golden period of Atlantic's jazz from the late '50s to the early '70s and will include artists such as John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, Charles Mingus, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Keith Jarrett and Ray Charles, among others.
Each month a different artist will be featured with a slip-cased, two-volume anthology that will contain the classic Atlantic material, important tracks from that artist's career licensed from other labels and previously unreleased recordings.
Included in each package will be a 30-50 page booklet filled with unpublished photos and liner notes and essays written by leading jazz journalists, experts and disc jockeys. Rhino also plans to release two or three classic titles each month and periodically release thematic samplers (jazz saxophones, vocalists, pianists, etc.).
Compiling the series for Rhino will be veteran and former Atlantic staff producer Joel Dorn, who was responsible for producing a great deal of Atlantic's original jazz roster. Dorn has assembled some of the seminal members of the Atlantic team to aid him in making this the most focused, consistent and respectful reissuing of a jazz catalog to date.
Aptly named, "Rhino Presents The Atlantic Jazz Gallery" is truly a museum-quality retrospective of the music that in the future could very well develop into America's "classical" music.
