ALL SPORT LAUNCHES NEW FORMULA AND FLAVORS WITH AD FEATURING PRO FOOTBALL'S STEVE YOUNG, JERRY RICE

SOMERS, N.Y., March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Pepsi-Cola Company today announced that it has reformulated its popular sports drink, All Sport Body Quencher, to contain energy-converting B-vitamins.

The new All Sport, along with new packaging and two new flavors, will be unveiled to the country on Monday, March 11, in a new TV commercial, "Helmet." The spot takes a comedic look at pro football in the future, and features the popular duo, Steve Young and Jerry Rice, at half-time during the "Global Bowl LVX III (year 2O2O)." The :30 commercial joins Young and Rice as they search for and find replenishment in All Sport's new advanced formula.

"Helmet" was created by BBDO Worldwide, and extends All Sport's "the game will never be the same" campaign which began two years ago. Past commercials have featured sports superstars, Shaquille O'Neal and Ken Griffey Jr., discussing how All Sport changed the past, present and future of sports.

"In our advertising, packaging and flavor variety, we've made a conscious effort to give people what they want and need in a sports drink," said John Talbot, Director of Marketing, All Sport. "While our competitors focus on the same thirst story, All Sport's new formula provides a unique blend of fluids, carbohydrates, electrolytes and B vitamins that the body needs during exercise. This reinforces our point that All Sport is more than just a thirst quencher, it's a body quencher."

What Makes the Perfect Sports Drink

Today, the sports drink category is one of the fastest growing beverage categories exceeding $1.2 billion in sales.

"Sports drinks are a very important part of a daily work out," says Liz A. Applegate, Ph.D., Nutritionist and Lecturer, University of California. "With the new formulation, All Sport is quite different from other sports drinks. It not only offers an optimal balance of fluids and carbohydrate energy, but now has B vitamins to assist in converting carbs to energy."

All Sport's new formula contains six B vitamins -- B1, B3, B6 and B12, plus folic acid and pantothenic acid. They help in producing energy from carbohydrates and delivering oxygen to your muscles.

All Sport Body Quencher comes six in flavors -- new Cherry Slam and new Blue Ice, plus the four original flavors -- fruit punch, lemon-lime, orange and grape. And it's available in new 20 ounce, 32 ounce, 64 ounce bottles, and 12 ounce cans.
