ALFRED L. PEPIN JR. TO MANAGE CHEVRON CORPORATION ACCOUNT

SAN FRANCISCO, June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Pillsbury Madison & Sutro announced today that partner Alfred L. Pepin Jr. will have overall responsibility within the firm for legal services provided to Chevron Corp. (NYSE: CHV). Pepin will replace Harvey D. Hinman, who has been elected a vice president of Chevron Corp., effective July 1.
"Once again, Pillsbury Madison & Sutro is extremely pleased and proud to have one of its very best partners leave to join Chevron for this most important role," said T. Neal McNamara, Pillsbury's managing partner. "We will sorely miss Harvey's productivity, positive attitude and wise counsel."
"While I'm very excited by the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead, particularly in light of the direction in which Chevron is headed, my enthusiasm is tempered by the thought of leaving the firm and those who have given me so much support and friendship during the past 28 years," said Hinman.
Pepin, 52, has spend much of the last five years working with Chevron to develop a successful joint venture at the Tengiz oil field in the former Soviet Republic of Kazakhstan.
"Al Pepin will step into shoes filled in earlier times by many of the greatest lawyers and legends in the firm's history. The group includes Felix Smith, Marshall Madison, Francis Kirkham and Frank Roberts. We are indeed fortunate to have one more eminently strong partner available to continue the line," said McNamara.
Pepin was admitted to the California State Bar in 1966. He is a member of the American and San Francisco Bar Association, the American Society of International Law and the Southwestern Legal Foundation. Pepin received his bachelor's degree in 1963 from California State University, Long Beach, and his J.D. degree in 1966 form the University of Southern California. He became a partner in Pillsbury Madison & Sutro in 1974.
Founded in 1874, Pillsbury Madison & Sutro is a leading international law firm with over 600 attorneys practicing in seven California cities, Washington, D.C. and Tokyo. The firm includes 33 practice areas representing expertise in virtually every area of the law.
