ALEXANDER ENERGY ANNOUNCES FOURTH SUCCESSFUL HORIZONTAL COMPLETION

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Alexander Energy Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: AEOK) today announced the completion of the Dusek No. 4H, the fourth successful horizontal completion in the company's Austin Chalk prospect located in Fayette County, Texas. Drilled out horizontally to approximately 2,861 feet from a 10,610 foot vertical wellbore, the Dusek No. 4 in a 24-hour controlled test produced into the sales pipeline 2,414 barrels of oil and 2.9 million cubic feet of natural gas on 22/64 inch choke with 1,240 psi flowing tubing pressure. Based strictly on the test results without allowing for normal decline, the production from the Dusek No. 4H would add almost 55 percent to the company's current production volumes. One additional operated offset location will be drilled during the first half of 1994.
Alexander Energy and its partner, John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company, own 100 percent of the three operated wells in the prospect, 70 percent of which belongs to the company. The company's share of the proposed operated offset location is approximately the same. Hancock and the company together own 25 percent of the outside-operated well.
Alexander Energy Corporation is an oil and gas exploration and production company based in Oklahoma City. Its primary exploration activities are in the Mid-Continent region of the United States. The company's common shares are traded in the NASDAQ National Market System under the symbol AEOK.
