 ALDUS ANNOUNCES JOINT VENTURE IN JAPAN
 SEATTLE, April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Aldus Corp. (NASDAQ: ALDC) has


announced the formation of Aldus K.K. (Aldus Kabushiki Kaisha), a Tokyo-based joint venture with Something Good Inc., a Japanese software company. Aldus K.K. will be responsible for the development, marketing, sales and customer support of Japanese-language versions of Aldus products.
 "We are excited about this joint venture and the opportunity to expand our presence in the Japanese software market," said Phil Herres, Aldus chief operating officer. "Our partnership with Something Good will better position us to meet the needs of our Japanese customers."
 Keiichi Sakamoto, president of Something Good, expressed enthusiasm about the joint venture. "Aldus K.K. is the newest and most important step in our relationship with Aldus Corp. It will combine Something Good's engineering and market expertise with Aldus' award-winning technology to further strengthen our ability to provide solutions to customers' needs."
 Aldus K.K. principals include Masao Tejima, general manager; Mutsuo Kobayashi, director of finance and operations; and Miki Ishii, director of product development. Aldus K.K. currently has a staff of 23 employees. Under the terms of the agreement, Aldus and Something Good will each own 50 percent of Aldus K.K.
 Aldus has sold Japanese versions of its products in Japan since 1988. Today, Aldus' Japanese product line includes Aldus PageMaker 3.0J/SE for Windows and the following products for the Apple Macintosh: Aldus FreeHand 2.0J; Aldus Persuasion 2.0J; Aldus SuperPaint 2.0J; and Aldus PageMaker 3.5J.
 Something Good was founded in Tokyo in 1982 to develop business software programs for microcomputers. The company currently sells spreadsheet, database and word-processing applications in Japan. Aldus and Something Good first joined forces in 1988 for the joint development of Aldus PageMaker 3.0J for Windows.
 Aldus Corp. creates computer software solutions that help people throughout the world effectively communicate information and ideas. The Aldus product line includes Aldus PageMaker -- the company's flagship program -- as well as Aldus Digital Darkroom, Aldus FreeHand, Aldus Gallery Effects, Aldus Personal Press, Aldus Persuasion, Aldus PhotoStyler, Aldus PrePrint, Aldus SuperCard, Aldus SuperPaint and Aldus Super 3D. The company distributes its products through an international network of more than 16,000 dealers and distributors.
