 ALDUS ANNOUNCES CHANGES IN EXECUTIVE TEAM
 SEATTLE, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Aldus Corp. (NASDAQ: ALDC) today


announced two changes to its executive team: the appointment of Sandy Smith as acting chief operating officer (COO) and the appointment of Jim David as vice president of Aldus USA (AUSA), the company's domestic sales organization.
 Smith, 42, replaces Phil Herres, effective today. David, 48, will join Aldus on May 4, 1992, replacing Aaron Howard. Both Herres and Howard have resigned to pursue other interests and opportunities.
 Smith, who is currently Aldus' vice president of operations, will assume a portion of Herres' duties as acting COO, overseeing the company's sales, operations, finance, and worldwide subsidiary activities. Aldus president Paul Brainerd will oversee the company's engineering and marketing organizations. David will oversee Aldus' U.S. field sales and service organizations.

"Aaron Howard, who built the Aldus U.S. sales division and contributed to the company's early growth, will pursue other interests and opportunities. We wish both of them well in their new endeavors."

 As vice president of operations, Smith has managed Aldus' information systems, manufacturing, human resources, administration, and product documentation functions. "I believe the emerging executive team at Aldus is extremely strong, and I'm excited to begin working with them in this new capacity," she said. As acting COO, Smith will report to Brainerd.
 Smith joined Aldus in 1988, bringing 20 years of experience in the computer industry. She began her career with the Bell System, where she held positions in data systems management, computer operations, and systems training. Prior to Aldus, she served as chief operating officer for COMM+ and operations vice president for Network Systems, Inc.
 "Sandy's management of the day-to-day operations of the business will give me the opportunity to focus on new product development and future directions for the company," Brainerd said.
 David joins Aldus with 26 years in the computer industry, where he has held a range of management, sales, and marketing positions. Most recently, he served as president of ButtonWare Inc., a database software company based in Bellevue, Wash. Prior to ButtonWare, David was senior vice president and general manager of corporate sales at Egghead Discount Software, where he built a national sales organization of 400 employees in 23 markets, and increased sales from $20 million to $200 million in three years.
 David began his career with 20 years at IBM Corp., serving in a variety of positions, including marketing representative, national account manager, and marketing manager. He has a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Washington.
 "Jim's combination of senior management experience in the computer industry, channel development expertise, and field sales and marketing knowledge give him a uniquely comprehensive perspective on what it takes to be successful in our business," said Brainerd. "He will be a valuable addition to Aldus' executive team."
 David will be based at the company's world headquarters in Seattle and will report to Smith.
 Herres, 50, joined Aldus in 1989 as chief operating officer. His
resignation is effective immediately. Howard, 42, joined Aldus in


1987 as director of products and services. He became vice president of Aldus North America (later AUSA) in 1988. Howard's resignation is effective May 31, 1992, although he will continue on a consulting basis through the transition.
