ALCOA AND VAW ALUMINIUM AG LAUNCH GERMAN EXTRUSION VENTURE

 PITTSBURGH, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Alcoa's (NYSE: AA) Extrusion/Tube System business unit and Germany's VAW Aluminium AG have formed a venture to produce and market aluminum extrusions, tube and rod for the European aircraft, automotive and defense industries.
 The venture, owned 60 percent by a German subsidiary of Alcoa and 40 percent by VAW, becomes Alcoa VAW Hannover Presswerk Gmbh & Co. KG. The company is assuming the assets of VAW's extrusion plant located in Hannover, Germany.
 The venture becomes Alcoa's first high-strength aluminum extrusion production facility outside of the United States, and will move service and technology closer to European customers, Alcoa said.
 The amount of the investment was not disclosed.
