 ALCO STANDARD TO ACQUIRE CROWN PAPER
 VALLEY FORGE, Pa., June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Alco Standard Corporation


(NYSE: ASN) announced today that an agreement has been reached for the acquisition of the assets of the Crown Paper division of Crown Forest Industries Limited by Alco for an undisclosed amount of cash.
 Crown Paper is a major Canadian wholesale distributor of industrial packaging, janitorial and related products, and printing and communication papers.
 Crown Paper, with headquarters in Vancouver, British Columbia, operates a network of 11 distribution centers in western and central Canada. It will become part of Alco's Paper Corporation of America (PCA) and will remain at its present locations under existing management. Crown Paper said it expects annual revenues for 1992 of more than U.S. $140 million.
 Ray B. Mundt, chairman and chief executive officer of Alco Standard Corporation, said, "The addition of Crown Paper will enhance PCA's position in the important Canadian market and further strengthen our presence in the industrial products area. Revenues for paper Corporation of America, Alco's largest business group, were $3.6 billion last year."
 Alco Standard Corporation, headquartered in Valley Forge, is a publicly owned distribution and services company. For its fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 1991, revenues were $4.8 billion.
