ALCO STANDARD ACQUIRES PIPPIN PACKAGING PRODUCTS

 VALLEY FORGE, Pa., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Alco Standard Corporation (NYSE: ASN) announced the acquisition of Pippin Packaging Products, Inc., for an undisclosed amount of cash.
 The company, headquartered in El Paso, Texas, markets and distributes specialty packaging products and equipment. Pippin will operate as a division of Mack-Pak, Alco's recently acquired specialty packaging equipment company, under the direction of Ron Eitzen. Headquartered in Dallas, Mack-Pak is part of Paper Corporation of America's Western Region. Combined revenues for Pippin and Mack-Pak are approximately $25 million.
 Paper Corporation of America (PCA), an Alco Standard company headquartered in Valley Forge, is North America's largest independent paper distributor with extensive operations in both the United States and Canada. PCA's annualized revenues now approach $6 billion.
 Alco Standard Corporation, also headquartered in Valley Forge, is a publicly held paper and office products distribution company with annualized revenues exceeding $7 billion.
