ALCO INTERNATIONAL GROUP CONTINUES SALES
OF THE BARRIER INTEGRITY MONITOR
SAN DIEGO, July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Alco International Group Inc. (NASDAQ: ALIG) today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, InCoMed Inc., has received another purchase order for the Barrier Integrity Monitor (BIM)(TM) and its related disposable products from W.T. Moore & Associates of Jackson, Miss. This purchase order calls for delivery of 250 BIM systems and is valued in excess of $1.7 million.
Since the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave the company clearance on July 1, 1992, to market the BIM, the combined purchase orders received total $8.9 million and are expected to expand at future dates to purchase additional disposable products.
The BIM is a battery-powered device that detects fluid contact between health care workers and patients, decreasing the risk of transmitting fluid-borne pathogens such as Staphylococcus, Hepatitis B and C viruses, as well as HIV, which is generally thought to be the cause of AIDS. The company received clearance from the FDA to market the BIM on July 1, 1992.
Alco, through its subsidiaries, operates two primary businesses: the manufacturing and marketing of medical products for infection control and for women's health; and the transportation of containerized cargo from South Florida to the Caribbean.
