ALCO INTERNATIONAL GROUP ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF TWO DIRECTORS
SAN DIEGO, Calif., May 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Alco International Group Inc. (NASDAQ: ALIG) today announced the appointment of two new directors to the board. Dr. William "Bud" Mayer and Dr. Dietmar Rabussay join the board of directors and bring an extensive medical background to the company. Mayer was formerly the assistant secretary of defense in health affairs, assistant surgeon general of the United States, a former top official at the National Institute of Health and former director of the International AIDS Research Project at the National Academy of Sciences.
Rabussay has also been appointed to the board of directors and adds strong credentials to the company. Rabussay has extensive experience with start-up companies as well as research and development programs. Rabussay's background also includes experience in international collaborations at both the scientific and commercial levels. In addition to his medical background spanning 11 years, Rabussay is an accomplished scientist with numerous publications and public presentations to his credit. Rabussay also has invented or co-invented several new technologies in the biomedical field and was an appointed member of a study section for National Institute of Health from 1983 to 1987. He is a member of several professional scientific organizations including the American Society of Microbiology.
Mayer and Rabussay were appointed to the board to fill vacancies created by the resignations of John Sherman and Virgil Williams earlier this month. Both Sherman and Williams will remain officers of the company. Alco also has hired Randall Clark as chief financial officer. Clark is a certified public accountant formerly with Coopers and Lybrand where he served as an audit senior for four years. Clark also served as the controller for a major cruise line with revenues in excess of $400 million.
Alco, through its subsidiaries, operates two primary businesses: the marketing of medical products for the infection control and women's health and the transportation of containerized cargo from South Florida to the Caribbean.
