CONROE, Texas, Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Albara Corp. (NASDAQ Small Cap: ALAB) reported gross revenues for the third quarter of 1993 of $1,656,000, representing a 64 percent decrease compared to the like period in 1992. Sales of the RealTech printers in the third quarter of 1993, decreased $1,734,000 from $1,742,000 to $8,000 and accounts for more than half of the overall revenue decrease. This decrease was caused by premature end-of-life for these products and the severance of the company's business relationship with Dataproducts.
Gross profit for the quarter ended Sept. 30, 1993 decreased $1,237,000, from $1,280,000 to $43,000, a decrease of 97 percent compared to the like period in 1992. The decrease resulted because: (a) RealTech laser printer sales contribute a lower cost of sale as a percentage of sales and since those sales were significantly reduced, overall cost of sales as a percentage of sales increased across all of remaining sales; and (b) Hardware That Fits incurred a charge to operations of all sales inventory, repair inventory and promotional materials associated with RealTech laser printer sales as well as other products that were dropped from the product line-up. General and administrative expenses for the quarter ended Sept. 30, 1993 increased $123,000, from $1,200,000 to $1,323,000, a 10 percent increase compared to the like period in 1992.
The company posted a net loss for the quarter of $1,294,000 ($1.03 per share) as compared to a net profit of $42,000 (5 cents per share) during the third quarter of 1992.
