ALASKA TEAMS WITH ERA, PEN AIR AND REEVE TO SERVE AKUTAN, KODIAK, DILLINGHAM, KING SALMON AND DUTCH HARBOR

ALASKA TEAMS WITH ERA, PEN AIR AND REEVE TO SERVE AKUTAN,
KODIAK, DILLINGHAM, KING SALMON AND DUTCH HARBOR
SEATTLE, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Alaska Airlines announced today it is teaming up with ERA Aviation, Peninsula Airways and Reeve Aleutian Airways to improve scheduling and ticketing for travel to Akutan, Kodiak, Dillingham, King Salmon and Dutch Harbor.
Under code-sharing agreements, Alaska and each of the other carriers are coordinating schedules to offer easy connections for passengers transiting Anchorage on trips between the Lower 48 and each of the five southwest Alaska communities.
Under the plan, Pen Air will serve Akutan, Dillingham, King Salmon and Dutch Harbor, while ERA -- already a code-share partner with Alaska on flights to southcentral Alaska communities -- will add Kodiak.
The Pen Air and ERA agreements take effect Nov. 4. Reeve will soon commence service to Dutch Harbor.
In addition to scheduling, the agreements call for the ERA, Pen Air and Reeve flights to be listed in computer reservation systems as Alaska Airlines flights -- thus the term code sharing. All flights to the five communities are timed to connect with Alaska Airlines' arrivals and departures in Anchorage.
Through the agreement, for instance, a passenger traveling from Los Angeles to Dutch Harbor will need only one ticket -- marked solely with the Alaska Airlines name -- even though he or she will be changing to a Reeve or Pen Air aircraft in Anchorage.
"Code-sharing is a common industry practice that allows carriers with complementary route systems to feed traffic to each other. It's a mutually beneficial way for airlines to enhance customer convenience," said Bill McKnight, Alaska vice president for marketing.
Reeve and ERA are members of Alaska's frequent flier program, Mileage Plan, and Pen Air is being added.
