ALASKA AIRLINES, HORIZON AIR REPORT FEBRUARY TRAFFIC RESULTS

 SEATTLE, March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The following was released today by Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air:
 ALASKA REPORTS FEBRUARY TRAFFIC RESULTS
 Alaska Airlines, a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE: ALK; PSE), reported today that its February traffic decreased 25 percent to 290.0 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from the 386.0 million flown a year earlier. The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare-paying passengers) for the month was 49.5 percent, compared to the 52.0 percent in February 1992.
 Capacity during February was 585.9 million available seat miles (ASMs), 21 percent lower than last year's 742.8 million. The airline carried 339,400 passengers in February compared to 432,800 in February 1992.
 For the two months ended February 1993, revenue passenger miles totaled 638.7 million, a 17-percent decrease from the 769.5 million recorded a year earlier. The passenger load factor for the two months ended February 1993 was 48.5 percent, down from the 50.3 percent for the prior year.
 Capacity for the two months ended February 1993 decreased 14 percent to 1.317 billion, down from 1.531 billion in 1992. The airline carried 740,000 passengers, compared to 857,000 in 1992.
 HORIZON AIR'S FEBRUARY TRAFFIC UP 14 PERCENT
 Horizon Air, a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE: ALK; PSE), reported today that its February traffic increased 14 percent to 35.7 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from the 31.2 million flown a year earlier. The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare-paying passengers) for the month was 51.9 percent, compared to 47.8 percent recorded in February 1992.
 The airline carried 172,744 passengers in February, a 13-percent increase from the 153,142 carried in February 1992. Capacity during February was 68.8 million available seat miles (ASMs), 6 percent higher than last year's 65.2 million.
 For the two months ended Feb. 28, 1993, revenue passenger miles totaled 74.2 million, a 16-percent increase from the 64 million recorded a year earlier. The passenger load factor for the two months ended Feb. 28, 1993, was 52.2 percent, compared to 47.1 percent for 1992.
 Capacity (ASMs) for the two months ended Feb. 28, 1993, increased 5 percent to 142.2 million, up from 135.7 million flown in 1992. The airline carried 360,567 passengers through February 1993, up 15 percent from the 314,131 in 1992.
