 SEATTLE, June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The following was released today by Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air:
 ALASKA REPORTS MAY TRAFFIC RESULTS
 Alaska Airlines, a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE: ALK; PSE), reported today that its May traffic increased 11 percent to 432.5 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from the 390.4 million flown a year earlier. The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare-paying passengers) for the month was 54.1 percent, compared to the 57.7 percent in May 1991.
 Capacity during May was 800.2 million available seat miles (ASMs), 18 percent higher than last year's 676.8 million. The airline carried 493,400 passengers in May, compared to 477,800 in May 1991.
 For the five months ended May 1992, revenue passenger miles totaled 2.106 billion, a 13-percent increase from the 1.864 billion recorded a year earlier. The passenger load factor for the five months ended May 1992 was 54.2 percent, down from the 55.8 percent for the prior year.
 Capacity for the five months ended May 1992 increased 16 percent to 3.886 billion, up from 3.340 billion in 1991. The airline carried 2,350,000 passengers, compared to 2,235,000 in 1991.
 HORIZON AIR'S MAY TRAFFIC UP 13 PERCENT
 Horizon Air, a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE: ALK; PSE), reported today that its May traffic increased 13 percent to 37.5 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from the 33.1 million flown a year earlier. The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare-paying passengers) for the month was 49.6 percent, down from 50.7 percent recorded May 1991.
 The airline carried 184,403 passengers in May, an 11-percent increase from the 166,226 carried in May 1991. Capacity during May was 75.6 million available seat miles (ASMs), 16 percent higher than last year's 65.3 million.
 For the five months ended May 31, 1992, revenue passenger miles totaled 172.4 million, an 18-percent increase from the 146.6 million recorded a year earlier. The passenger load factor for the five months ended May 31, 1992, was 48.0 percent, compared to 47.5 percent for 1991.
 Capacity (ASMs) for the five months ended May 31, 1992, increased 16 percent to 359.2 million, up from 308.4 million flown in 1991. The airline carried 844,163 passengers through May 1992, up 15 percent from the 736,214 in 1991.
