ALASKA AIRLINES, HORIZON AIR REPORT DECEMBER TRAFFIC RESULTS

 SEATTLE, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The following was released today by Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air:
 ALASKA POSTS JANUARY TRAFFIC RESULTS
 Alaska Airlines, a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE: ALK; PSE), reported today that its January traffic decreased 9 percent to 348.5 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from the 383.4 million flown a year earlier. The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare paying passengers) for the month was 47.7 percent, down from 48.7 percent in January 1992.
 Capacity during January was 730.9 million available seat miles (ASMs), 7 percent under the 788.1 million in January 1992. The airline carried 399,800 passengers in January 1993, compared to 424,100 in January 1992.
 HORIZON AIR'S JANUARY TRAFFIC UP 17 PERCENT
 Horizon Air, a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE: ALK; PSE), reported today that its January traffic increased 17 percent to 38.5 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from the 32.8 million flown a year earlier. The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare paying passengers) for the month was 52.5 percent, compared to 46.5 percent recorded in January 1992.
 The airline carried 187,823 passengers in January, a 17-percent increase from the 160,989 carried in January 1992. Capacity during January was 73.4 million available seat miles (ASMs), 4 percent higher than last year's 70.4 million.
 Horizon serves 35 cities in six states and Canada.
