 SEATTLE, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The following was released today by Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air:
 ALASKA REPORTS AUGUST TRAFFIC RESULTS
 Alaska Airlines, a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE: ALK; PSE), reported today that its August traffic increased 17 percent to 645.5 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from the 551.8 million flown a year earlier. The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare paying passengers) for the month was 69.1 percent, compared to the 64.5 percent in August 1991.
 Capacity during August was 933.7 million available seat miles (ASMs), 9 percent higher than last year's 855.3 million. The airline carried 722,700 passengers in August compared to 646,000 in August 1991.
 For the eight months ended August 1992, revenue passenger miles totaled 3.948 billion, a 15-percent increase from the 3.425 billion recorded a year earlier. The passenger load factor for the eight months ended August 1992 was 59.1 percent, up from the 58.5 percent for the prior year.
 Capacity for the eight months ended August 1992 increased 14 percent to 6.675 billion, up from 5.860 billion in 1991. The airline carried 4,419,000 passengers, compared to 4,057,000 in 1991.
 HORIZON AIR'S AUGUST TRAFFIC UP 27 PERCENT
 Horizon Air, a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE: ALK; PSE), reported today that its August traffic increased 27 percent to 50.9 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from the 40.0 million flown a year earlier. The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare paying passengers) for the month was 62.8 percent, up from 56.2 percent recorded in August 1991.
 The airline carried a record 248,949 passengers in August, a 24-percent increase from the 200,331 carried in August 1991. Capacity during August was 81.1 million available seat miles (ASMs), 14 percent higher than last year's 71.1 million.
 For the eight months ended Aug. 31, 1992, revenue passenger miles totaled 321.0 million, a 24-percent increase from the 259.7 million recorded a year earlier. The passenger load factor for the eight months ended Aug. 31, 1992, was 53.5 percent, compared to 50.5 percent for 1991.
 Capacity (ASMs) for the eight months ended Aug. 31, 1992, increased 17 percent to 599.9 million, up from 514.4 million flown in 1991. The airline carried 1,568,892 passengers through August 1992, up 20 percent from the 1,304,238 in 1991.
