ALASKA AIR GROUP REPORTS OCTOBER TRAFFIC RESULTS

 SEATTLE, Nov. 4, /PRNewswire/ -- Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE: ALK) reported today October passenger traffic volumes for its subsidiaries, Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air.
 ALASKA AIRLINES
 Alaska Airlines' October traffic increased 24 percent to 454.7 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from the 366.2 million flown a year earlier. The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare paying passengers) for the month was 59.4 percent, compared to the 50.9 percent in October 1992.
 Capacity during October was 765.9 million available seat miles (ASMs), 6 percent higher than last year's 719.2 million. The airline carried 560,400 passengers compared to 426,600 in October 1992.
 For the ten months ended October 1993, revenue passenger miles totaled 4.486 billion, a 6 percent decrease from the 4.749 billion recorded a year earlier. The passenger load factor for the ten months ended October 1993 was 57.8 percent, down from the 58.2 percent for the prior year.
 Capacity for the ten months ended October 1993 decreased 5 percent to 7.758 billion, down from 8.167 billion in 1992. The airline carried 5,206,000 passengers, compared to 5,346,000 in 1992.
 HORIZON AIR
 Horizon Air's October traffic increased 25 percent to 50.1 million RPMs from the 40.0 million flown a year earlier. The passenger load factor for the month was 57.8 percent, compared to 51.6 percent recorded in October 1992.
 The airline carried 247,721 passengers, a 25 percent increase from the 197,985 carried in October 1992. Capacity was 86.7 million ASMs, 12 percent higher than last year's 77.6 million.
 For the ten months ended October 1993, RPMs totaled 458.6 million, a 14 percent increase from the 403.9 million recorded a year earlier. The passenger load factor was 56.1 percent, compared to 53.5 percent for 1992.
 Capacity for the ten months ended October 1993 increased 8 percent to 818.1 million, up from 754.6 million flown in 1992. The airline carried 2,258,513 passengers, up 14 percent from the 1,978,556 in 1992.
