ALAN REDHEAD NAMED CEO OF CALIFORNIA BEACH RESTAURANTS INC. AND APPOINTED TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS; OTHER BOARD CHANGES ANNOUNCED
PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif., June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Restaurant industry veteran Alan Redhead has been named chief executive officer of California Beach Restaurants Inc. (NASDAQ: CALB), which owns and operates RJ's The Rib Joint in Beverly Hills, Calif., and Gladstone's 4 Fish in Pacific Palisades, the latter one of the highest-volume restaurants in the United States. Redhead will also serve on the board of directors of the Pacific Palisades-based company.
Redhead spent 7 years as chief executive officer of Hungry Tiger Inc., which owned and operated Hungry Tiger restaurants, Breakers Seafood restaurants, Castagnola's Lobster House and the restaurant and catering operations at the Los Angeles Music Center. He was also chief executive officer of Anderson's Pea Soup restaurants and directs his own company called Ellergreen, which is general partner in two restaurants (one in Riverside and the other in La Habra, Calif.). Most recently, Redhead was chief executive officer of Clare Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Santa Monica, Calif.
Born in Liverpool, England, Redhead was educated at the University of London and UCLA's School of Business. He and his wife have two children and reside in Santa Monica.
Officials of the company also announced that Anwar Soliman has resigned as a member of the company's board of directors. Soliman stated that he had expected to resign upon completion of his duties as the special committee of the board of directors which had been formed to advise the board with respect to various issues relating to the company's restructuring process. Soliman went on to state that the demands of his own business interests would not allow him to continue to devote substantial amounts of time to his ongoing duties as a board member. Company officials acknowledged that the many contributions by Soliman in his capacities as both a member of the board of directors and as the special committee to the board had been invaluable.
Company officials also stated that Robert W. Schulz had resigned as president in order to pursue other business interests. They acknowledged Schulz' contributions to the restructuring process and Schulz has agreed to remain as a member of the company's board of directors.
