ALAMO TO SIGN LONG-TERM LEASE AGREEMENT WITH TRAVELERS; 110 TOWER TENANT WILL KEEP ITS WORLD HEADQUARTERS IN DOWNTOWN FORT LAUDERDALE
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., May 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Alamo Rent A Car announced today that it is fully committed to keeping its World Headquarters offices in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, and will sign a long-term lease agreement with the Travelers Insurance Company, owner of The 110 Tower.
Charles D. Platt, president and chief operating officer of Alamo Rent A Car, Inc., announced today that the new lease agreement will ensure that Alamo's headquarters offices remain a fixture in downtown Fort Lauderdale at least through the year 2003, as dictated by the agreement.
Alamo currently has about 750 employees who work at The 110 Tower and its leased office space spans the top ten floors of the building. In announcing the decision to remain at The 110 Tower to the company's employees, Platt cited the unique advantages of the downtown area and the favorable terms of the lease, both of which provide Alamo with a competitive business advantage.
"There is no question that The 110 Tower is an ideal location from which to operate a corporate office. The proximity to other growth businesses, banking, services, The Broward County Convention Center, the arts, and Fort Lauderdale International Airport are all significant factors to us and our employees," said Platt. Alamo will not be providing any other details concerning the lease agreement or its provisions.
Alamo has been a tenant of The 110 Tower since May, 1988 and its five-year lease agreement was to expire in January, 1993. The new lease agreement was negotiated through Carter and Associates of Atlanta, representing The Travelers Realty Investment Company, also of Atlanta, for The Travelers Insurance Company of Hartford, Conn.
Alamo was represented in the lease negotiations by Norman D. Tripp, Alamo's general counsel and minority shareholder, and partner in the firm of Tripp, Scott, Conklin and Smith. Tripp can be reached for comment at 305-525-7500.
