ALAMO RENT A CAR EXTENDS EMPLOYEE RATE TO SOUTH FLORIDA VICTIMS OF HURRICANE ANDREW; ALL LOCATIONS NATIONWIDE OPEN FOR BUSINESS AS USUAL
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Fort Lauderdale-based Alamo Rent A Car is lending a hand to Dade County residents affected by Hurricane Andrew. Beginning today, Alamo will rent cars to local customers at the same rate as it offers its employees, to assist victims of Hurricane Andrew. Alamo will offer a Hurricane Crisis Rate of $15 per day for an economy car, and $17 per day for a compact car at its Miami Rental Plaza, located at 3355 N.W. 22nd Street Road.
Weekly rates are also available for the economy car at $75 per week, or 5 times the daily rate with two days free. The compact car is available to Hurricane Andrew victims at $85 per week. Advance reservations are recommended, but if Miami-area customers are unable to make reservations by phone, they may still rent cars at the special Hurricane Crisis Rate as long as cars are available at the Miami Alamo location. All Alamo rentals include unrestricted, unlimited free mileage.
According to Alamo President Charles Platt, "We realize that our neighbors in Miami have experienced a tremendous loss, and we want to share our resources with those most in need." Alamo will make cars initially available to victims of Hurricane Andrew through Sept. 30, or until supplies run out.
To qualify for the special Hurricane Crisis Rate, Alamo customers must be 25 years of age, show proof of local residence on their Florida Driver's License, and rent with a major credit card.
All Alamo locations across the country are open for regular business across the United States, and Alamo's computer operations and reservations center in Fort Lauderdale are completely operational following Hurricane Andrew.
Reservations for any Alamo location nationwide can be made by calling 800-327-9633. To reserve the Hurricane Crisis Rate, Dade County residents should request Rate Code "HC."
