AIRSENSORS INC. REPORTS INCREASED SALES AND THIRD CONSECUTIVE QUARTER OF PROFITABILITY

SEATTLE, March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- AirSensors Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: ARSN, ARSNW) announced today increased sales and the third consecutive quarter of profitability for the fiscal third quarter ended Jan. 31, 1993.
For the quarter just ended, net sales increased 23 percent to $7.7 million compared to net sales of $6.2 million reported for the same period a year ago. Net income applicable to common stock was $105,247 or $.03 per share for the quarter, including a non-recurring charge of $262,500 or $.07 per share because of the call of a Westinghouse Credit Corp. put warrant, compared to a net loss of $534,776 or ($.18) per share a year ago.
For the nine-month period, net sales reached $24.3 million, a 35 percent increase over net sales of $18.0 million reported for the first nine months of fiscal 1992. Net income applicable to common stock was $807,866 or $.25 per share compared to a net loss of $2.1 million or ($.63) per share for the same period last year.
The rise in net sales was primarily attributable to higher sales to Australia and to several U.S. distributors who exported the company's products to Mexico. International sales, which accounted for approximately 27 percent of the company's total sales for the nine months ended Jan. 31, 1993, increased more than 50 percent from the same period of fiscal year 1992. Management expects this trend to continue throughout the remainder of the year.
AirSensors Inc. sells its products worldwide through its wholly owned subsidiary, IMPCO Technologies Inc. located in Cerritos, Calif. IMPCO manufactures gaseous fuel equipment that allows internal combustion engines to operate on clean fuels such as propane and natural gas. IMPCO provides conversion equipment for motor vehicles, forklifts, other material handling equipment, and small-portable to large-stationary engines.
