AIRPORT CONTRACT.

The Jamaican Government has awarded the contract for the refurbishment and operation of Sangster International airport in Montego Bay to a consortium headed by Spanish construction and services group Dragados, reports Expansion magazine (Jan. 22, 2003). Sangster International is the largest airport on the island, which has become one of the main tourism destinations in the Caribbean. The refurbishment and extension work will need an investment of 165 million euros. The consortium will operate the airport and its special services for 30 years. Chilean group Agunsa, construction company Ashtorm and Vancouver Airport are also in the consortium.
