AIRPORT, SEAPORT PROJECTS.

St. Kitts & Nevis and the World Bank have agreed on a US$5.2 million Emergency Recovery Project for improvements at the St. Kitts Electricity Department and the airports and sea ports. The World Bank will finance US$4.4 million (85% of the total project cost) and the balance US$800,000 will be financed by the Government of St. Kitts & Nevis. Funds will be used to import low sulfur diesel fuel, make improvements at St. Kitts & Nevis airports (bringing them up to International Civil Aviation Organization standards), provide an Identification Badging/Tracking System and a Watch List at the Bradshaw Airport, purchase and install two dual scanners for checked bags and a sniffer, purchase communications equipment for the airports and seaports, and train key personnel.
