AIRGAS COMMENTS ON LAWSUIT AGAINST PRAXAIR.

RADNOR, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 2, 1999--

Airgas, Inc. (NYSE: ARG) announced that yesterday, in a breach of contract suit brought by Airgas against Praxair, Inc. (NYSE: PX), the jury found in favor of the defendant. Neither side was awarded any monetary damages.

Gordon L. Keen, Jr., senior vice president - law and corporate development, commented, "We were disappointed in yesterday's outcome of our lawsuit against Praxair. We felt the evidence amply supported the claims made and we are considering what to do next."
