AIRCO GASES ANNOUNCES PRICE INCREASE

MURRAY HILL, N.J., Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Airco Gases, the U.S. gases business of The BOC Group, will increase prices on all oxygen, nitrogen, argon, helium, hydrogen and carbon dioxide products.
Schedule prices will increase between 3 and 5 percent for oxygen, nitrogen, argon, helium and carbon dioxide, and 10 percent for hydrogen. Packaged gas prices will increase between 6 and 8 percent depending on the product. The higher prices will be effective immediately or in accordance with existing contract provisions.
"In addition to an increase in schedule prices, we will place particular emphasis on reducing discounts from existing schedule," said Glenn Fischer, president of Bulk Gases. "The combination of deep and extended price discounting, higher production and distribution costs, and increased taxes has severely curtailed our ability to generate capital for reinvestment."
As well as increases in bulk products, packaged gas prices will also rise as a direct result of increased labor rates and costs for raw materials such as carbide used in acetylene production.
Fees for special delivery conditions, including restricted access periods and expedited delivery requirements, will apply where applicable.
Airco Gases is a leading manufacturer and supplier of industrial and gas handling technology in the United States. The company's primary gas products include cryogenic and non-cryogenic nitrogen, oxygen, argon, carbon dioxide, helium, hydrogen and a variety of medical, rare and special gases.
